What your child will learn.
In small classes of up to 8, children will create handmade Christmas ceramics to treasure for years to come. This half term focuses on creativity and fine motor skills.
Week 1 – Tuesday 3rd November
Create a collection of Christmas decorations for the Christmas tree, exploring a range of hand-building techniques, textures and decorative patterns.
Week 2 – Tuesday 10th November
Design and build a Christmas tea light holder, learning how to safely construct and decorate a functional ceramic piece.
Week 3 – Tuesday 17th November
Use the pinch pot technique to create a charming snowman sculpture, developing an understanding of clay form, joining and three-dimensional design.
Week 4 – Tuesday 24th November
Learn how to safely and creatively use underglazes to add colour and pattern details to Christmas decorations and tea light holders.
Week 5 – Tuesday 1st December
Complete the decoration of pinch pot snowmen and any remaining pieces, bringing together the pottery skills and techniques developed throughout the half term.
