What your child will learn.
In small classes of up to 8, children will explore both hand-building techniques and introductory wheel throwing, developing creativity, confidence and practical pottery skills in a calm studio environment.
Week 1 - Tuesday 15th September
Children will be introduced to the pottery studio and create a decorative tiled clay box working with slab-building and surface design techniques.
Week 2 - Tuesday 22nd September
Children will refine their hand-building skills by constructing and joining their tiled boxes using professional pottery techniques including slip and scoring.
Week 3 - Tuesday 29th September
Children will create a coiled mug or bowl. They will also be introduced to the pottery wheel, learning the foundations of centring clay and wheel throwing.
Week 4 - Tuesday 6th October
Children will learn how to safely and creatively apply underglazes to decorate and personalise their ceramic tiled boxes.
Week 5 - Tuesday 13th October
Children will decorate their coiled ceramic mugs or bowls using underglazes.
