What your child will learn
In small classes of up to 8, children will explore hand-building techniques developing creativity, confidence and practical pottery skills in a calm studio environment.
Week 1 - Thursday 17th September
Children will be introduced to the pottery studio and learn how to safely create and decorate a tiled clay box using professional hand-building techniques.
Week 2 - Thursday 24th September
Children will develop their clay-building skills by joining and constructing their tiled boxes using slip and scoring techniques to create a finished ceramic form.
Week 3 - Thursday 1st October
Children will explore pinch pots and coiling techniques to create their own handmade mug while developing patience, coordination and confidence working with clay.
Week 4 - Thursday 8th October
Children will learn how to safely and creatively use underglazes to paint and personalise their tiled ceramic boxes.
Week 5 - Thursday 15th October
Children will complete and decorate their handmade mugs using underglazes, bringing together the pottery skills developed across the half term.
